What are the Common Causes of Low Back Pain in the Elderly?

This study aimed to comprehensively summarise common causes and risk factors of developing severe/chronic lower back pain in older adults.

The findings from this study showed that various age-related changes and factors may influence the prognosis and management of lower back pain in older adults.

These include: physical (e.g. spinal degeneration), psychological (e.g. dementia), and mental changes (e.g. central pain processing), as well as multiple demographic risk factors (e.g. genetics, gender, and ethnicity).
