Our Chiropractors exceed the recommended learning for continued professional development and are engaged in studies to expand their knowledge with the latest advances in health care.
In addition to formal education, our Chiropractors have a vast amount of clinical experience and knowledge. They have helped many patients of all ages and fitness levels to be pain free and mobile. Every person is an individual, and with their clinical experience and expertise, they perform accurate assessments to customise treatment plans for the best patient outcomes.
How does Chiropractic treatment work?
Chiropractors are trained to assess how joints which includes muscles, tendons, ligaments, discs move and function.
When a healthy joint moves, it sends a signal into the spinal cord and into the brain letting the brain know that the joint moves in that direction. Conversely, if you want to move a joint, the brain then sends an electrical signal into the spinal cord, then to the joint to allow it to move in the direction you have chosen.
If a joint is restricted or injured either through degenerative changes or tissue damage, it doesn’t function well. This means the tension needed for muscles, tendons and ligaments for a particular movement is changed, and the overall joint position sense is altered. When you have an altered joint position sense, the messages into the brain are also altered which unfortunately increases your risk of injury and can create balance issues such as falling.
Our Chiropractors are experts in determining joint dysfunction to address discomfort. Using best evidence methods, they perform treatments involving a specific stretch of the ligaments and tendons in a precise direction to restore the movement in the joint. In this process, it is theorised to stimulate the joint and increase blood supply and nutrients to the damaged area and create a new movement pattern and awareness. This process is thought to override the pain sensation, making you feel better.
The grade of stimulation or movement performed is dependent on the integrity of a patient’s spine with many factors such as one’s bone density, stiffness and flexibility taken into consideration.
Is Chiropractic safe?
Chiropractic adjustments are safe, if performed by an experienced and registered Chiropractor such as our Chiropractors in Aurum Health Care.
The Chiropractors at Aurum Health Care perform a detailed history and assessment to select the best techniques so you receive the maximum benefits of care and reduce any potential adverse reactions. You will also be able to discuss any concerns with our Chiropractors before commencing any treatments.
Do Chiropractic treatments hurt?
Chiropractic treatments should not be painful.
Most patients find the sessions relaxing however everyone is different.
If the discomfort is ever too much, please always let your Chiropractor know so they can modify the technique to your tolerance level.
How many visits do I need to find relief?
We always strive to achieve maximum pain relief and benefits in the shortest amount of time.
Every person is wired up differently so individual results may vary depending on their health, fitness, lifestyle habits and compliance to recommendations and treatments.
However, the majority of patients report and experience noticeable pain relief immediately.
As a general rule, most patients with an acute injury (without underlying biomechanical problems) undertake treatment plans in the region of 1 – 4 visits. However, if there are underlying biomechanical problems, or if it’s a chronic condition, most patients need 8 – 12 visits.
The best way to receive the most effective care is to accurately find the problem and do your best to follow the recommendations of your trained practitioner.
Chiropractors at Aurum Health Care have extensive clinical experience in diagnosing and treating a range of complex cases and are committed to helping you achieve feeling and functioning at your best.
